Social Media Policy

Last Updated: November 2025

Purpose of This Policy

The purpose of this Social Media Policy is to protect your privacy and clarify how PeaceWorks Counseling & Therapy and its clinicians engage on social media. Social networking platforms are public spaces that can blur professional boundaries and confidentiality. This policy explains how we manage our professional presence online, how we interact (or do not interact) with current, former, or potential clients, and how you can contact us securely.

1. No Therapeutic Relationship via Social Media

Interactions on social media, including likes, follows, comments, or direct messages, do not constitute or imply a therapeutic relationship. Therapy services are established only through a formal intake process and signed consent for treatment.

2. Friend, Follow, and Connection Requests

To maintain clear therapeutic boundaries and protect client confidentiality, PeaceWorks Counseling & Therapy clinicians do not accept friend, follow, or connection requests from current or former clients on personal or professional social-media accounts. This includes platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and similar networks.

If you follow one of our professional pages to access mental-health content, please be aware that doing so may make your name visible to others and could compromise your confidentiality. You are welcome to view our content without engaging publicly.

3. Messaging Through Social Media

Social-media messaging, such as direct messages, private messages, comments, or tags, is not a secure or appropriate means of communication for clinical matters. Do not use social-media platforms to share personal information, request appointments, or discuss treatment.

If you need to contact us, please use one of the following secure methods:

  • Call our main office line at (203) 851-2495

  • Send a secure message through our Sessions Health client portal

  • Email info@peaceworksct.com for administrative questions only (no clinical details)

4. Content Posted by PeaceWorks

Our social-media pages may include mental-health education, wellness tips, information about anxiety and OCD, resources, or announcements about services and community events. This content is intended for educational and informational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional therapy or medical care.

Following or viewing our social-media content does not constitute a professional relationship, nor does it imply endorsement of any specific treatment or product.

5. Client Confidentiality and Reviews

To protect client confidentiality, we cannot acknowledge publicly whether someone is or has been a client of PeaceWorks Counseling & Therapy. For that reason, we will not respond to online reviews or comments about our services, whether positive or negative.

If you wish to share feedback about your experience, we welcome you to contact us directly by phone or email.

6. Tagging, Comments, and Public Interaction

We request that clients avoid tagging PeaceWorks Counseling & Therapy or any clinician in personal posts, photos, or comments related to therapy. Doing so may compromise your privacy and therapeutic boundaries.

Engagements such as likes, follows, or comments may be publicly visible. By choosing to engage with our social-media content, you acknowledge that this may reveal your association with our practice. We reserve the right to remove comments or content that are inappropriate, violate privacy, or compromise ethical standards.

7. Viewing Clinicians’ Personal Profiles

Our clinicians maintain personal social-media accounts separate from the practice. To preserve professional boundaries and privacy for both clients and clinicians, these accounts are not accessible to clients.

8. Use of Testimonials or Client Content

In accordance with HIPAA, the NASW Code of Ethics, and the Connecticut Department of Public Health regulations, we do not solicit or post client testimonials, photos, or identifying information on our website or social-media platforms.

9. Privacy and Data Tracking

Social-media sites may collect user data such as likes, demographic information, or engagement metrics. PeaceWorks Counseling & Therapy does not have control over how these third-party platforms use or share data. We encourage you to review each platform’s privacy policy before interacting with our pages.

10. Policy Updates
